New Theme: The Journalist

Going to try this one out for a bit. It’s called The Journalist and WordPress.com just released it. I’ve been long begging the guys at WP.com for a professional minimalist theme that’s black-on-white, and this might be it. I need to test drive it for a bit.
I like the use of whitespace, but I don’t know if I like the Trebuchet font in the sidebar. Also, I think the title typography is a bit weak relative to post titles, and it sucks that this theme, like my previous one, doesn’t show the blog tagline without having to edit the CSS.

I took a look at this theme also, and found it just a bit sparse for my tastes. Like you, I agree that “less is more”, but given the media of The Web, this just leaves me feeling a little lost.
As I look at yours with a bit more critical eye, although your posts are interesting, the theme actually makes it a bit dull and hard to read. I think I liked the previous theme you were using.
Tough call.

Did you ever try Cutline or PressRow? Both are beautiful, and slim, white templates, IMHO – they do not have much clutter, and are very easy on the eye.
I especially like Hemingway when turned to white, as well, but find its sidebar-turned-into-a-bottom-frame a bit unorthodox and a hindrance to readers’ navigation in the end.
I like it, but I like pretty much everything and I think that I am one of the few picky people that post here.
I’m torn. I want to use it, and I like the overall look and how it’s more readable (IMHO), but it’s unfinished.
I will test drive this for a day or three and see what I think then.

minimalist to the point of bland, it lacks personality, or substance or something. Dunno, but some thing’s not quite right. I wish I could be more helpful or constructive.
