The iPhone buzz even made it to McSweeney’s, which is a certain indicator the device will conquer the world within 14 months of release. Those who do not believe will drown in a lake of fire.

I think the iphone buzz swept the entire planet. News coverage print, watercooler comments, it’s as if all of humanity turned to this one presentation and started dreaming.

ggw — I agree. Even relatively tech-uneducated people at work are talking about Apple’s announcement, and they wouldn’t have said boo if Apple released a 36-CPU Mac.
Apple knows the route to PC penetration is consumer goods — through devices and technologies that people rely on every day. The iPod halo was there, albeit argued; the iPhone halo will be stronger than you can possibly imagine (apologies to Obi Wan).
